HEART FINE ART

HISTORIC AND CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS BOOKS, PRINT, SOUND AND OBJECT MULTIPLES, UNIQUE WORKS AND DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE VARIOUS INTERNATIONAL AVANT-GARDES.

Our catastrophic website failure in June 2013 has required us to painstakingly rebuild our catalogue, which we continue to do in the background.
In the meantime, we provide the following list of recently acquired pieces for sale. We will be adding to this list on a regular basis.
If you can't find what you're looking for then please do get in touch - we have thousands of items available, the list below is but a small percentage of our stock.

Coum Transmissions (Cosey Fanni Tutti)
FIESTA VOL 10 NUMBER 7
London: Galaxy Publicitions, n.d. (late 1970s)
30 x 21cm, 84pp plus paper wrappers. A single number of this pornographic magazine which contains has a four page article entitled "Cosey Confesses" which has a full page colour photo of Cosey along with four smaller black and white photos of her. Bizarrely the magazine has an article about her art activities, and some detail relating to how she met Genesis P-Orridge and the performance and mail art activities of Coum Transmissions including the story of the Marcel Duchamp installation in Bruxelles - probably the only recorded Duchamp reference in soft porn. Also there is a full page colour photo of her on the inside front cover ("Feeling Cosey?") on the inside cover. The middle pages are detached but cleanly and other than that and some minor fraying to the edges this is in VG condition and is obviously rare.

Jarman, Derek
I PLACE A BLUE DELPHINIUM ON YOUR GRAVE - ONE OF ONLY FOUR HAND PAINTED PROOF COPIES
N.p.: The Blue Press, 1994
45 x 35cm, hand-painted boards, 30pp plus 8pp hand-painted endpapers all on thin paper. Printed letterpress. Stored in a 47 x 37 x 4cm hand painted solander box. The text is that of Jarman's final film Blue which consisted of the artist reading his poetic text over a projected royal blue colour. This was one of only four (4) proof copies produced in advance of the edition of 150 books which was intended to be issued with a signed print and 25 copies with a hand-painted box also by Jarman but the artist sadly died before he was able to complete the project and the books were issued without his signature or his painting. This proof copy was not painted by Jarman but the work was created to his instruction with hand-painted end papers, boards and solander box. Some parts of the panting are less consistent than others in their depth of blue (an unavoidable issue when the work was done by hand) but this is a beautiful book of great poignancy. A very rare item indeed in this format.

Jorn, Asger
ASGER JORN
Bruxelles: Galerie Taptoe, 1956
WITH ORIGINAL LITHOGRAPH ON COVER. 18.5x 13.7cm, 8pp plus red and black card cover. This exhibition preceded his breakthrough as a major international artist in 1958/9. Former library copy of De Appel, Amsterdam with the stamp of the museum inside and a former mark from a label on the front of the catalogue (which has been removed) as well as a 1.5cm closed tear on the spine but this is a rare early catalogue and the condition is not bad if just below VG. Essay by Christian Dotremont, four works reproduced in b/w and the cover is an original work by Jorn.

Nitsch, Hermann (Melotti, Gianni?)
VINTAGE PERFORMANCE PHOTOGRAPH C. 1975

20.5 x 27.8, b/w vintage photograph depicting a Nitsch action with one naked male strung up on a cross, two animal corpses, four assistants, a jazz band and some of the audience. Here the two animals have been pulled open to display their inner organs by the assistants while Nitsch looks on (the image is from behind the artist). The photograph strongly resembles the photographs of Gianna Melotti who took many images of Nitsch during performances during the 70s - however this is not an assumption based on anything other than style and method of printing with wide white borders which are seen in many others of the images by the photographer at this time. Fine.

Provo
HANS METZ MOET VRIJ!
Amsterdam: Provo, n.d. (1967)
29 x 21.3cm, 2pp. Mimeographed leaflet with a text most probably written by Rob Stolk. The text calls on the authorities to free Hans Metz after he was jailed for the article in Provo 7 that hinted that the Provos would blow up the Tunnel IJ which was intended to be be built under the Amsterdam harbour. Metz was the publisher of 'God, Nederland en Oranje' and his crime was compounded by depicting an image of Queen Juliana as prostitute in that publication. On the reverse of the leaflet is a fake letter supposedly from Ché Guevara (Gueyara): 'Lieve Kerielja' ('Dear Kerielja'). A cartoon by Bernard Willem Holtrop also adorns the front of the leaflet. Very good condition. Rare.
